For AMIAS (Al-Anon Members Involved in Alateen Service)
NOTE AS OF 3/19/2020: If you are interested in becoming an AMIAS (Al-Anon Member in Alateen Service) please contact your District Representative, the Area Alateen Process Person (AAPP), or Area Alateen Coordinator through this website. We will get in touch with you. Due to the Covid-19 situation things are being done virtually for the next little while.
If you are an Alateen Group Sponsor and/or a Certified Area 9 AMIAS and are thinking of creating a temporary virtual meeting for a current Alateen meeting that is unable to meet - please click here: Alateen Meetings Getting Online - Document from WSO 3-19-2020
Any AFG member interested in Alateen service reads these at least annually:
World Service Office Alateen Service e-Manual
Alateen Safety Guidelines (G-34), this includes the Travel and Medical Forms.
Area 9 Alateen Safety and Behavioral Requirements
Area 9 Disqualifying Offenses
During First Quarter of each year, every AMIAS meets and shares their service experience, issues, ideas, etc. with other AMIAS during an Annual Training session that also covers the World Service Office (WSO) and Area Safety and Behavioral Requirements. Occasionally, there are training sessions at other times, for example, when a new AMIAS is needed for a school meeting or event. To be effective, training sessions need a variety of members in the room experienced in Alateen meeting and event sponsorship.

WHY DO I HAVE TO RECERTIFY EVERY YEAR?
- It’s about safety for the kids.
- Think of it like at many businesses where one has to take Compliance, Business Conduct Guidelines, Continuing Education Credit requirements, or things like that every single year.
- When it is old hat to you, remember that you are there to share your service experiences with the new people. They need you.
