Research for the Timely Topics presented in September 2025 can be found on the password protected page of this Area 9 website. Please ask a panel member for the password.
Topics to be researched were assigned January 24, 2026. Research will be presented at the June Virtual Assembly.
Topic #1: (D4) Regarding dual members holding voting positions, the service manual specifically mentions AA, but no other recovery programs. Does being a member of other 12 step recovery programs (Drug, Gambling, etc.) disqualify a member from being a GR or DR (or other voting positions)?
Topic #2: (D11) Al-Anon adapted the three legacies from AA. Al-Anon encourages members to pray, Step 11, yet seems to only have the Serenity Prayer. Could Al-Anon, as a spiritual program, adapt prayers that come from AA’s book titled Alcoholics Anonymous (a.k.a. Big Book) such as the 3rd, and 7th Step Prayers?

THE FORUM
The Forum is Al-Anon’s international monthly magazine, often described as “the voice of the fellowship.” It’s a unique publication where Al-Anon and Alateen members share personal stories, reflections, and insights about their recovery journeys from the effects of someone else's drinking.
If you have ever been published in the Forum and would like your name included in the list below, please email the alternate delegate the month, year, and page of the Forum you were published in addition to how you would like your name to appear on the list.
